Visiting Loano
Loano, one of the pearls of the Ligurian coast
Loano is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Liguria, famous for its characteristic colourful houses and thanks to the free shuttle service of Ai Pozzi Village, you can reach the historic centre of the city in just a few minutes.
For your journey to discover Loano, an unmissable stop are the historic churches such as the Loano cathedral, the Church of San Giovanni Battista, a jewel of Renaissance architecture or the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Loreto, also known as the sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve. Another fascinating place is the Doria castle, dating back to the 12th century, an iconic monument of the city.
Loano is full of tourist attractions; walking through the streets in the centre of the town will give you the measure of the immense historical value of buildings and monuments and you will come across places of great artistic and architectural value such as Porta Passorino.
One of the most characteristic monuments is the Civic Naturalistic Museum, which houses a notable ornithological collection; another museum to learn more about the history and traditions of the city is the Sea Museum, a place deeply linked to the maritime traditions of the area.
Another place rich in history not far from Loano and about 15 km from Ai Pozzi Village, is the Archaeological Museum of Finale, located in the architectural complex of Santa Caterina di Finalborgo and which houses a vast collection of archaeological artefacts.
